Las Vegas remains a hot spot for travelers. Still, like most other popular vacation spots in the United States, they have to try harder these days to keep travelers returning. This is mostly due to the ever-rising cost of gasoline, because tourists are becoming more cost aware.
Therefore, the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority have sent a few of the famous showgirls from the city on the road to boost business. The “Vegas Right Now” campaign visited San Francisco, San Diego, Chicago, Seattle and Denver last week.
The showgirls wore full makeup, dressed in sequins with headdresses and boas. The girls went to sport events and major attractions offering chances to win trips to Las Vegas via Southwest Airlines.
Erika Pope of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority said, “I think every (tourist area) is feeling a little drop. We’re trying to get some extra love for Las Vegas.” Current numbers were not available, but the city is working very hard to attract visitor’s business.
With the summer vacation season drawing ever closer, many other cities are promoting similar campaigns. New York is attracting business with their “Just Ask the Locals” campaign. Philadelphia is drawing tourists with gas card as part of the “Philly is More Fun” campaign.
Many other popular cities are offering incentives to summer travelers. Be sure to search the city you plan to visit on the Internet for more information on these deals.
