25th Anniversary celebrations for Superbreak
Posted on: April 27th, 2008 by Taylor SmithThe British short break holidays specialist and market leader is celebrating its 25th anniversary in the travel industry.
The company which was founded in 1983 started off by promoting a small number of hotels, climbing steadily over seven years which saw it set up the York based operation by 1990. Eurocamp travel took over super break in 1995 making it their new hotel breaks division.
Superbreak was also one of the pioneers to provide online options in travel, when it had become clear that the Internet would be the medium of choice for people wanting to travel or take a holiday. In the mid Nineties the travel industry became aware that their future would be determined in a big way by the Internet. Superbreak put up their site Superbreak.com in 1996 as an initial means of holiday advisement but by 1999 the site had grown to completely integrate all products on offer with customers able to fulfil all their needs online.
Superbreak began to grow rapidly since 2002 when Crystal Britain was acquired. Other acquisitions followed soon with Bridge Britain and Ireland and London Travel Service being bought in 2003. Superbreak extended its footprint to mainland Europe by purchasing Holland’s short break company Bookit in the following year 2004. To further stamp their mark on London’s short break theatre trip sector, Superbreak acquired in 2007 the West End Theatre Bookins.
Superbreak is celebrating its quarter-century anniversary by looking back through time; its archives can be searched by visitors on the website and older brochures browsed.
