The Hertz Car Rental company has just introduced an express self-service check-in program at 50 U.S. airports that’s meant to help customers get from the counter to their rental car in 10 minutes or less. The company is so confident that its new, streamlined process will meet this claim that it will give a $50 credit on the cost of the rental to any customer who waits any longer than this.
In order to be eligible to use this new service, customers must check in first at Hertz.com, and to print out a confirmation of the reservation. On arrival at the airport, one of the express counters or new kiosks should be used to complete the reservation process. Among the participating airports are Atlanta, O’Hare in Chicago, Dulles and Reagan in Washington D.C., LAX, Maui’s airport, LaGuardia and Newark in the New York area, and San Antonio, Texas.
Hertz says that in rolling out this service it is paying attention to customer requests. The company recently made changes to the prices its charges for refueling, and now charges market prices, plus a fee, for those who refuel through Hertz on returning their rental car.
