Actress Amanda Holden suffers miscarriage

Television star Amanda Holden has lost her baby to a miscarriage.

Holden’s agent confirmed the news on Saturday after she had been hospitalised on Tuesday. Holden had felt that the baby boy was no longer moving. The agent said that both Holden and her husband Chris Hughes were ‘utterly devastated’ by the ordeal.

The news comes after the 39-year old actress had announced that she was pregnant last month, adding that she was already six months along. Her spokeswoman, Allison Griffith, said that she had been very closely monitored throughout the pregnancy, but it wasn’t yet known what had gone wrong.

Ms Griffith said that both Amanda and Chris wished to thank the staff and midwives at West Middlesex Hospital Isleworth, particularly those in the Queen Mary Maternity unit, for the enormous amount of support they have provided over the past several months.

Holden currently serves as a judge on Britain’s Got Talent along with Simon Cowell and Piers Morgan. She has acted on a number of television programmes including EastEnders, Hearts and Bones, Smack the Pony and Cutting It.

Chris Hughes and Holden were married in 2008 and already have one child, daughter Lexi, who was born in January of 2006.
