Advice for car rentals in 2010

It been a long year in the car hire market and apart from a few bumps in the road the business has come through relative unscathed by the worldwide recession. The European summer saw some bad stories about the coast of car rental especially in places like Spain. Many firms had to make some last minute restructuring coming into the high season as the cost of the cars on their books was not being financially viable. Old cars were sold off and new ones were not bought because of a lack of finances by the banks to these firms.

Next year should see a healthier return in the car market and hopefully demand will not outstrip stock. If you are looking to hire a car in 2010 there are some things you may want to check out before you choose a car. Not including the normal cost of the car there are many factors you should think about.

First on the list would have to be safety for you and your passengers. If you are a family of four and will be staying somewhere in the mountains a small car will not be practical for the potential terrain and the steep hills you could encounter. You may also want to check out the fuel economy of the car you wish to hire. It may well cost you an arm and a leg to fill up and it could drink fuel for breakfast.

Another great way to make saving on rentals is using an online comparison website like Carrentals.co.uk to do the leg work for you. You enter your details of where you are going and how long for and the website will search all the top companies in that area and give you a list with the cheapest being at the top. As well as saving you money, it can save you time stuck behind that keyboard.
