Air France offers flight discount from London City Airport
Posted on: April 17th, 2008 by Martin FellowesAir France is offering those who wish to travel from, or to London’s City Airport heavily discounted fares on a large handful of routes. Return flights from London City to Amsterdam, Dublin, Eindhoven, Geneva, Nice, Paris-Charles-de-Gaulle, Paris Orly, Strasbourg and Zurich now all cost £89. The actual flights are operated by CityJet, an Air France subsidiary based at the London City Airport. In addition to these short-haul international destinations, Air France is also offering £80 roundtrip tickets to domestic UK destinations, such as Belfast, Edinburgh and Dundee.
London’s City Airport is billed as the British capital’s most central hub for air travel, and as such, it has become popular with businesspeople, who value quick and convenient transport to Central London. In fact, CityJet’s flights appeal most to the business crowd, and much less to leisurely travelers. In order to receive the lowest, £89 rate on a roundtrip ticket, all airfare must be booked no later than May 5th and the actual trip must occur by August 30th, at the latest.
CityJet was founded in 1992 and opened its first base in Dublin. Air France bought a majority stake in the company in 2000, which is when it officially became an AF subsidiary. CityJet uses only small, regional planes, such as the Avro RJ85ER and the BAe 146-200 on all of its routes.
