Airlines come to rescue of stricken SkyEurope customers

Customers of the fallen Slovak airline, SkyEurope, might have some hope of regaining their money back on flights they have booked. The carrier called in administrators last week after filing for bankruptcy. The move came amid growing concern from certain airports over unpaid debts. Vienna International Airport was one of the first to ban the airline from flying there after they failed to meet a mid-August deadline for owed monies.

The airport in Prague soon followed suit which then led to the administrators being called in. Hundreds of passengers have been left stranded by the collapse of the airline, which flew out of Luton and Manchester airports to destinations in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Wizz Air were one airline who has stepped in and said they would do what they could to help cover the routes lost by the fall of the carrier.

SkyEurope has warned some passengers with flights already booked that they may not be able to get their money back if they had booked them directly with the airline. However if they were part of a package they would most likely be covered by the Air Travel Organisers License (Atol) or if they had paid by credit card for over £100 most card companies have cover for this type of situation.
