Alamo is set to improve the car hire experience for thousands of customers, by streamlining the rental process, in order to make it quicker and more efficient. UK customers are now able to pay either online, when renting a car, or on the spot at the time of rental. The company has also set up more kiosks in the United States and Global Positioning Systems (GPS), offered as an extra service, now function in more locations than ever before.

Alamo will also be offering extra incentives—such as reductions–for those renters who decide to use the online, pre-pay option when renting a car. Those who choose this payment method will simply have their credit card debited for the full amount of the rental, in Pounds Sterling. Alamo currently operates some 3,800 outlets in a range of countries, and the pre-pay option is available for all pick-up locations.

Those using Alamo to rent cars in the US will also now be able to enjoy quicker service, thanks to the introduction of self-service rental machines, similar to ATMs used by banks, or electronic check-in kiosks at most major airports. These electronic kiosks are already operational at 60 American airports. Most other major international car hire companies are also in the process of gradually phasing in an increasing number of electronic, self-service kiosks, which helps them cut down on the cost of doing business, but also offers customers far faster service.

One of the most useful innovations embraced by Alamo is the new GPS system, the so-called Garmin StreetPilot c330. This is especially useful for those who choose to rent a car with Alamo anywhere in Canada or the United States. It is also an effective navigational aid for renters in the United Kingdom and some countries in continental Europe, such as Spain. In the US and Canada, the GPS constitutes an upgrade and costs $10.99, on top of the basic daily rental fee.
