Alamo introduces online check-in
Posted on: October 8th, 2007 by Garry RobertsonOnline check-in has become increasingly standard practice with many European and North American airlines, but
Alamo is now set to introduce this to the world of car rentals as well. Customers who reserve and pay for their car rental online, using
Alamo’s website, can now also check-in and print out all documents required for pick-up using this same page. When online check-in is complete, there is no longer any need for the client to stand in line at an airport, or at another location. Instead, it becomes possible to simply go straight to the parking lot and drive away with the requested rental vehicle. There is an agent on site who will, however, ask customers to produce the online check-in confirmation and a valid driver’s license before leaving the lot.
Alamo’s online check-in is now available in about three dozen locations throughout the
United States. This service has yet to be introduced in other parts of the world. Additionally it is usually not yet possible to check-in online for those clients who booked specialty of luxury cars, nor for those who requested certain upgrades, such as child seats. Drivers under 25 years of age, who are in possession of a valid driver’s license, may also take advantage of this deal, but their basic rental fee may be higher than for older customers. It is also necessary to have a completely clean driving record and the renter’s license must have been issued by a state in the US, or a province in
Canada. It is also required to use a major, recognized credit card to complete the booking and check-in process.
