American Airlines has reaffirmed its commitment to top car rental provider, the Avis Budget Group. Earlier this month, the two announced that their preferred partners’ contract had been extended and that hirers who rented from Avis would accrue additional air miles on the carrier’s frequent flyer programme.
The new agreement cements a collaboration between the two that began back in 1998. The new contract is an ongoing multi-year one. Avis sales and marketing vice-president, Stephen Wright, said that the group was delighted to be continuing with the fruitful partnership.
He continued by saying the 500,000 people who flew with American Airlines every day of the year still had a seamless route from the runway straight onto the highway in a premium quality vehicle. The senior vice-president finished off by saying that mileage accruals plus access to the low-cost Payless fleet provided flyers and hirers with additional choices.
Air miles for each day’s rental of an Avis, Budget or Payless vehicle are added to the accounts of hirers who are enrolled in American’s AAdvantage frequent-flyer club. The minimum mileage per day is 50, but corporate travellers can get up to 500 miles credited to their accounts.
Another bonus of the favoured partnership accord is that people who have built up air miles via Avis Group rentals can use them at AAdvantage’s Admirals Club lounges or against in-flight media entertainment. Another key proviso is that Avis will promote American Airlines’ special deals plus standard products and services.
