Andy Murray Opens New Five-star Luxury Hotel

Andy MurrayEvery so often, movie and sports superstars like to throw their hat into a different industry than what they are known for. One such case has been seen with Wimbledon champion Andy Murray. The 26-year-old tennis legend purchased the Cromlix House last year. This former country home is located Dunblane and is now being used as a five-star hotel. Andy Murray has always wanted to open a hotel in Dunblane because it is his home town.

The Cromlix House Hotel has 15 rooms. It has not been made clear just how much it costs to stay in the luxury hotel, but it is labelled as a five-star hotel. The hotel will have its own restaurant that will be run by Albert Roux, a well-known French chef. Also located at this luxury hotel is a chapel, its own loch and a tennis court, which seems only fitting.

Of course, no one will be staying at this hotel any time soon. This is because the hotel has already been fully booked in advanced for the Ryder Cup. It is recommended that anyone who wants to stay in this hotel should make reservations far in advanced. This is likely to a hotel with a huge backlog of guests.

Before the Cromlix House was purchased by Murray, it was used as a private residence. After that, it was turned into a five-star country hotel. Although the hotel was pretty popular, it closed down in 2012. The good news for Murray is that he does not have to spend a lot of money getting the old house turned into a hotel; it is already equipped for that.

As to why Murray chose this location for his hotel, people believe it is linked to an event that happened in 2010. It was then that Murray visited the Cromlix House to be the best man at his brother’s wedding. He stated just how much he liked the house while he was there. Of course, at the time he had no idea that he would one day purchase it.

When talking about starting his own hotel, Murray said that his whole plan behind running a hotel is to attract new people to the area. On top of that, he said that starting the hotel would not only support local businesses but hopefully create some jobs as well. So far, this project has helped create 40 jobs in the area. Murray said that he is just doing his part to bring business to his home town. After all, he just wants to return the favour to the community that he grew up in and that has supported him throughout his career.

VisitScotland has already added this hotel to its guided tour of the country for James Bond enthusiasts. This is a tour that is being offered by a Russian holiday operator. Mike Cantlay, the chairman of VisitScotland, said that he was just tickled pink to see the nation’s number one tennis player join the tourism game.
