In response to weakening passenger demand, Singapore Airlines has announced additional reductions in scheduled flights.
The airline is cutting the number of flights it operates between Singapore and some cities in the US, Europe, India and Thailand.
All Nippon Airways has indicated its intention to cut international capacity by eight per cent, suspending a number of China routes, and reducing frequency on others, such as the Guangzhou, Mumbai and Tokyo-Shanghai routes.
Japan Airlines is suspending its Osaka-Heathrow route and reducing flight frequency on other routes, such as to Australia, but it will be launching its lower-cost subsidiary JAL Express, which will service international routes.
Singapore Airlines is also reducing the number of flights it offers from Singapore to Hyderabad, down to three times weekly from four. The Saturday flight will be cut from 21 February through the end of March. It will also be reducing service to New Delhi, by cutting one of the six weekly flights from 10-24 March. Its services to Mumbai will be reduced from five to four times weekly, from 27 February.
Bangkok service will be reduced from 32 flights per week to 25.
