Avis Budget smoke free policy honoured

Top car rental company Avis Budget group has received the most recent Smoke-Free Business Award in the United States.

The honour came from the group Americans for Nonsmokers’ Rights, which said that Avis Budget has been given the honour for having set the new smoke-free standard for the car hire industry.

Executive VP of operations for Avis Budget, Larry De Shon, accepted the award and said that the policy had come into play because the top request from the firm’s customers was for a clean, smoke-free rental fleet. He added that the move, which affects all Budget and Avis vehicles in the United States and Canada, ensures that customers are provided with fresh-smelling vehicles free of cigarette odours every time they rent.

The policy first came into play in 2009 when the global firm made its fleet non-smoking areas for both employees and customers. The company will also make every US and Canada rental outlet completely smoke-free on April 1st, 2011.

Americans for Nonsmokers’ Rights director Cynthia Hallett said that Avis Budget had pioneered non-smoking policies in the industry. She said that all major car hire firms have now put similar policies into force and as a result millions of renters can breathe easily.

  • The next time I read a weblog, I hope that it doesnt disappoint me as much as this one. I imply, I do know it was my choice to learn, but I truly thought youd have one thing interesting to say. All I hear is a bunch of whining about one thing that you would fix when you werent too busy in search of attention.
