Avis earns key distinction in Asia
Posted on: June 27th, 2008 by Benjamin TierAvis Rent-A-Car has scooped up a key distinction in Asia and Oceania, where it is once again seen as the “leading” car hire firm. To most seasoned observers, this result may not have proven to be a significant surprise, considering that Avis had won this award for the past three years. The distinction formed part of the World Travel Awards’ regional ceremony for Asia and Oceania, where some of the travel and hospitality industry’s most prominent firms were honoured. Car rentals formed one part of the awards ceremony, but some of the best hotels and airlines also received distinctions. For example, the Swissotel chain, a string of five-star luxury hotels, received an award for its prestigious facility in Shanghai.
The World Travel Awards were first established in 1993, and since then international organization honours the top names in the industry each year, thus encouraging rental companies and hotels to offer clients quality service and customer care. Winning a Travel Awards distinction serves as a milestone and as a historic moment for any company, since after fifteen years of existence, this has become the most prominent awards ceremony in the industry.
Even without the award, however, the Avis Rent-A-Car brand name is among the most prominent and widely recognized in the world. The company is currently the second largest car hire firm internationally, right after Enterprise-which operates both the National and Alamo brands. Avis welcomes clients at 5,100 car hire outlets throughout the world and has a business presence in 164 countries.
