Avis Rent a Car recently expanded its presence in Greece with the inauguration of a new hire depot in the north of the country. The town of Alexandroupolis now has two pick-up locations which provide maximum convenience for hirers.
Avis now offers rental vehicles from its desk at Alexandroupolis Airport as well as from a downtown depot on Dimokratias Avenue. The airport office has extended opening hours of 08:00 to 21:30 every day to serve the increasing number of passengers using the facility.
The Dimokratias office has split opening hours from Monday to Saturday. It operates in the morning from 08:00 to 13:00 and in the evening from 17:00 to 20:00.
Avis has about 80 rental stations in Greece which cover all the important island and mainland locations. Alexandroupolis is in the far northeast of the country and just 40kms from the national border with Turkey.
After opening its new facility, Avis said it brought more than six decades of car hire familiarity and this ensured that customers who chose Avis would be provided with hassle-free experiences. Added bonuses with Avis rentals include one-way hires, GPS and child seats plus a range of vehicles suitable for anything from fun trips to the mountains to formal occasions.
By Greek standards, Alexandroupolis is a fairly new town and was just a small fishing harbour until a little over 100 years ago. It is now a thriving port with public passenger ferries to Samothrace and the islands all the way down the Eastern Aegean.
