Avis helps renters with disabilities
Posted on: July 17th, 2008 by Hannah WestfieldAvis Rent A Car is attempting to make the lives of travellers living with disabilities a little easier by offering a range of products and services geared towards increasing their mobility. The car hire giant will start offering power chairs, traditional wheelchairs, as well as brand new scooters, and all of these will form part of the company’s so-called Avis Access program. Battery-operated, innovative scooters are the newest additions to Avis’ line of products aimed at those with reduced levels of mobility. In fact, these scooters were only recently introduced to consumers, following a series of successful safety tests conducted in Orlando Florida) and Las Vegas.
These products are ideal for people taking part in conferences or travelling to any location where a high degree of mobility is required. Many convention centres have lengthy hallways and those with physical disabilities may find it challenging to get from one point to another. Avis also suggests that those planning on going on sight-seeing trips to major urban centres might also consider a scooter rental, or even a power chair, in order to facilitate getting around and thus ensuring that the trip is much less exhausting. Some clients even rent one of these products from Avis if they have a stained ankle, broken leg or are experiencing a temporary reduction in mobility for any other reason.
Avis first introduced a special line of products and services geared towards people with reduced mobility in 2004.
