Avis lets customers upgrade rented cars for £2
Posted on: September 4th, 2007 by Martin FellowesTravelers who rent cars and, out of principle, always go for the least expensive and most economical vehicle are now about to be rewarded. Avis is offering a special deal in the United Kingdom, whereby renters can upgrade an economical, compact vehicle for a larger, more luxurious car, for only an extra £2 per day. In order to benefit from this deal, however, customers must ensure that they book their car by September 30, 2007 and that the rental period also ends by or before this date. Unlike with many car hire specials, there is essentially no minimum rental period attached to this deal. As such, cars can be hired for anywhere from one to 27 days, in order to take advantage of this promotional.
All of Avis’s advertised rates include unlimited mileage, as well as a damage waiver and any surcharges. In order to qualify, the original rental must be for a medium-sized compact car. Once this is booked, it can be upgraded to a large or standard-sized vehicle. For example, a medium-sized compact car, such as a Ford Focus, picked up from, and returned to Heathrow Airport costs approximately £49 per day, including insurance and surcharges. This, however, can be upgraded to a Ford Mondeo or a Peugeot 407 for an additional £2 per day. Avis’s prices at Heathrow and other UK airports tend to be higher than at city locations, due to extra airport surcharges and special taxes. As such, it may be wise to rent elsewhere, in order to obtain further savings. In order to enjoy this special upgrade opportunity, customers should arrange their car hire online, using the interactive forms on the Avis website.
