Avis now provides chauffeurs with car rentals

Avis is now providing the option of asking for a driver along with one’s car rental in several major US cities, including New York, Washington DC, Los Angeles and Chicago. The new service is meant to appeal primarily to traveling businesspeople, who need to ensure that they arrive at their meetings and engagements on time, without the added worry and frustration of having to navigate through the congested streets of bustling cities, like NYC. Additionally, renters can avoid having to pick-up the car rental at the airport, as the driver will arrange this and be waiting for the client in the arrivals area.

Those interested in booking a car rental with a driver can expect to pay an additional $35 per hour, on top of all other car rental and insurance fees. Although this hourly rate will significantly increase the cost of a rented car, some business analysts point out that it is still much less expensive than traveling in a limousine, as well as more efficient and reliable that having to call a taxi each time the client has to commute from one location to another.

This new service offered by Avis is made possible through a partnership between the car rental giant and WeDriveU, a major firm headquartered in California, which focuses on providing drivers. While the Avis rental can be booked directly online, requesting a driver does require a separate telephone reservation. Another upgrade offered by Avis to businesspeople who rent a car with a driver is Wi-Fi internet connection, priced at $10.95 for an entire day, allowing businesspeople to spend their time on the road even more productively.
