Barclays have today becomes the second bank in the UK to roll out a pre pay chip and PIN card which can be used at cash machines and payment terminals all over the world.
The Travel Money Card has been purposely designed to be used as an easy alternative to travelers’ cheques.
The Barclays travel card is safer than cash and more flexible than travelers’ cheques it is not necessary to use a bureau de change, or carry your passport for verification when getting your foreign currency. All you need is the card which can be used in the majority of ATMs so it is easy to get your money where ever you are travelling to or from.
The added security is a major feature that will give all card holders the peace of mind that their money is protected.
The card will be free to purchase and top-up and is available in British pounds, US dollars or Euros. Yorkshire Bank, the Post Office and Travelex also offer a very similar service of pre pay chip and pin cards. However there will still be a charge for the use of the card abroad, a two per cent fee or a minimum £1.50 charge on all overseas withdrawals.
A card user cannot go overdrawn to minimize the risk of fraud, and can be topped up in any Barclay’s branch with cash, debit or credit cards.
This is going to be a very good idea for travelers.Author's Google+ page
