Global hotelier Best Western has just launched its latest hotel in one of the most stunning beauty spots in Southeast Asia. The Best Western’s brand new Thousand Island Hotel is situated in a heritage town close to the shores of beautiful Inle Lake in central Myanmar.
The hotel occupies a prime riverfront location in the Shan State town of Nyaung Shwe. This town is the main hub for transport in the area and the gateway to the bountiful attractions of Inle. The UNESCO listed lake is renowned for its natural attractions, floating gardens and its so-called one-legged fishermen.
The 48-room Thousand Island incorporates a riverside café and outdoor terrace, and a billiards room. The highlight of the amenities is a bucolic rooftop bar which gives panoramic views of the sun setting over the Shan hills on the horizon.
Although the hotel’s décor bows to the traditions of this region of the former Burma, its rooms are equipped with all modern conveniences. Guests will find they have state-of-the-art televisions with a good selection of cable channels, wireless internet connectivity, personal safes and free hot drinks at their disposal.
Commenting on the inauguration of Best Western’s third Myanmar property, Asian region director Olivier Berrivin noted that the country was one of the planet’s fastest evolving tourism destinations. He explained that Inle Lake and its environs were a firm favourite with travellers and Best Western was set to be the perfect base for explorations.
