British Airways entices Americans with London Passes
Posted on: August 27th, 2008 by Dave AndersonBritish Airways is trying to convince Americans to hop on a plane and visit the United Kingdom this fall, despite higher fuel prices, economic worries and a general slowdown in the air travel industry. The UK’s flag carrier has not only reduced its airfares on transatlantic flights, but is also offering passengers who book in the very near future a free pass to a choice of several famous attractions in London. The cheapest ticket prices are available for those who fly out of New York City’s JFK Airport, or out of Newark-Liberty. Economy class airfare is now priced at only $482 for a roundtrip ticket. Since this price includes taxes and fees, BA’s actual ticket price is all but “free” of charge. Those who are willing to pay a little more for added comfort can upgrade to a World Traveller Plus (premium economy) ticket and enjoy more legroom and augmented service for $898, in the case of a roundtrip ticket.
After the ticket has been purchased through the British Airways website, the UK’s flag carrier will provide each passenger with a two-day London Pass. This allows for free access to some of the most popular attractions in the British capital, including the legendary Tower of London, St. Paul’s Cathedral, Hampton Court Palace and the London Zoo. In order to take advantage of these freebies, however, BA requires that clients book no later than September 4th. The actual trip may take place until December 17th, 2008
