British Airways offers double miles with Barclaycard
Posted on: November 23rd, 2009 by Peter HeadleyTwo British heavyweights, British Airways and Barclaycard, have joined forces to come with a great new offer for holders of the British Airways Barclaycard. From this moment on holders of this card can now enjoy double reward miles until the end of January next year. The double reward has been designed to give something back to their loyal customers as well as to encourage new customers to sign up for a Barclaycard. The scheme is being looked after by The Mileage Company, the same firm that takes control of BA’s air miles.
This is the first major offer since the new card was introduced around a year ago and will make it easier for travellers to gain air miles. In addition to this passengers can take advantage of the free miles and exchange them for upgrades or flights anywhere else on the British Airways network. The card can also offer other services away from the plane like being a UAE Gate Card and valet parking.
This should be a great incentive for British Airways to encourage travellers back on to their flights. They have found it hard in the past two year with last year making a record £401 million loss, their first since privatisation in the 1980s. This year has not be fairing much better for the carrier as their predicted first half year figures are expected to be quite lower than before. The firm has also introduced new cost cutting measures to try and save money like ditching meals on short-haul flights and scrapping free sports equipment carriage.
