Brits not confident of bags arriving when they do

According to a recent poll by the Post Office, Britons are far from confident that their checked baggage will arrive where and when they do.

Only 12 per cent said they had no worries about their luggage going missing in transit. This is despite that on average 10,000 bags going missing everyday in Europe alone.

Despite the lack of confidence bags are often crammed with valuable items that come to a value of more than a thousand pounds. Luggage for the ladies is worth £1,276 on average and men come in at £998.66. Amazingly 23 per cent of them said they would still not bother with travel insurance to save money.

People from the London area are the most likely to leave the travel insurance off the priority list, while residents in Northern Ireland are the most likely to be responsible and have travel insurance.

Of the 2,194 people polled by the Post Office, 13 per cent said that they have had trouble with luggage being delayed and 23 per cent of them had to wait up to a week before seeing their bags again.

“If you do find yourself arriving on holiday with nothing but your hand luggage, it’s important you keep your receipts to claim back on any purchases you have to make to keep you going,” said Rachel Croft on behalf of the Post Office.
