Buying Petrol in London Just Got a Bit Harder Thanks to Greenpeace

According to Greenpeace activists, they have now shutdown every single BP petrol station in London. These stations have now been seen putting up signs that say they are ‘closed to move beyond petroleum’. This, of course, could make it a bit harder for people traveling around London to find a place to fill up.

Greenpeace goes on to say that some 50 stations have been put out of action. BP said up to 20 have been affected and that they are currently working to reopen them all. Small teams from Greenpeace used a shut-off switch to stop the flow of fuel at each of the locations they targeted.

This move from Greenpeace came just after the company announced losses of £11 billion for the second quarter of this year. The company also confirmed that their chief executive, Tony Hayward, is to step down. He is to be replaced by Bob Dudley on October 1st.

Of course, before Dudley even takes over as chief executive, Greenpeace is already urging him to take the company in a brand new direction. They are saying that his predecessor was obsessed with high risk and being environmentally reckless.

These saboteurs did not stop at just shutting down the BP stations in London. They have also went on to replace BP’s logo at several stations with their own version of BP’s famous green sunflower. The activists now show the green sunflower disappearing into a sea of black oil.

Greenpeace went on to post pictures on Twitter of their teams taking part in the shut-off switches. Greenpeace executive director John Sauven said that they plan to stay all day. This is not targeted at motorists, although it will affect them. This is targeted at the company to get the company to rethink their strategy.
