Drivers of hire cars and other holidaymakers are being warned this summer that they are not invincible and are still likely to end up in the same scrapes as if they were at home.
According to a leading comparison website, holidaymakers seem to think that they are indestructible and that they feel immune to everything, which could lead them to drive a hire car recklessly.
New research found that 33 per cent of Britons abroad are more likely to do things that they would not dare in the UK. In number one spot was drinking alcohol all day long which 24 per cent of those polled said that had done. For those that had hired a car, they then might be tempted to drive home which could cause a wide range of problems for the public, even death.
Other holiday traits included walking home alone late at night alone which can be dangerous for both men and women, getting seriously sun burnt or suffering from sun stroke. All these things come from one thing though, the Brits blase attitude when they are on holiday, 53 per cent said that they do what they want as they are on holiday.
