Hertz Ukraine’s general director Alla Chenier says, “The car rental industry is finally experiencing strong growth due to demand. In 2006, one car a month was sent to Donetsk. Today we average over 20 cars a month. Lviv is also developing swiftly due to tourism in Transcarpathia.” With more Ukranians owning cars than ever before, car firms report that much of their business in generated from people whose cars are undergoing service and they need a rental car for a short period.
The summer tourist season is also when most of the money is made, with Russian tourists accounting for most of the business. New foreign business travellers are also keeping the Ukraine car hire agencies in the black.
