Chateau Marmont Hotel Bans Lohan

Chateau Marmont HotelLindsay Lohan seems to be in some kind of new trouble every week, and now a letter that bans her from a hotel has been leaked. The actress stayed at the Chateau Marmont Hotel in West Hollywood in June and July, racking up a total bill of $46,350.04 that has remained unpaid. She was filming Liz & Dick – during which she portrays Elizabeth Taylor – during her 47-day stay.

How could the bill have gotten that high? Well, apparently Lohan went to town on some of the hotel’s services – aside from the basic room price, tax and parking charges. In the hotel bill, which has also been leaked, it shows that she spent $100 on one Chateau candle, $625 for laundry services, $686 on cigarettes and a whopping $3,145.07 for the Minibar. When she failed to pay the bill, the manager was forced to ban her from returning.

Philip Pavel, the Chateau Marmont Hotel general manager, (reiterated in a letter to Lohan on July 31) their several attempts to resolve the large sum. He said that, as she had been aware from their previous communications from July 8, she owes the hotel a total $46,350.04 for her stay, which started on May 30. Since they have repeatedly tried to resolve the pressing matter for a few weeks without any headway, he regrets to inform her that they won’t be able to extend any further credit so she can remain at the hotel. He then requested that she remove her belongings from Suite 33 by noon on Wednesday, August 1.

However, Pavel went further than just kicking Lohan out of the hotel room. He also informed her that she couldn’t use the facilities or eat at the venue’s popular restaurant. They won’t be able to host her on the property or in the restaurant until the matter of her outstanding debt is paid, he said.

Pavel even dismissed fees for the actress renting a computer (maybe in a bid to persuade her to pay the bill). He says that he adjusted the bill to remove the $75 daily charge for the rental of the hotel’s laptop – a gesture of good faith – with understanding that she will return the device when she leaves. He added that he appreciates her immediate attention to the matter and looks forward to receiving payment and leaving the issue behind them.

It’s been reported that Lohan told friends she thought the producers of Liz & Dick were picking up the bill, and she was surprised that the hotel banned her. However, there has been no comment on the matter from the producers or the actress’s spokesman.

The Chateau Marmont Hotel says it regrets the matter was made public but believes Lohan’s own people leaked the letter. In an email to media, management said that the hotel makes the privacy of its guests a top priority and a core value. After investigating the issue, it appears that the private letter between the general manager and Lohan was leaked by one of the actress’s entourage. They are as troubled, horrified and disappointed about this as Lohan probably is. This was a private matter between the hotel and one of its guests, and they will continue treating it that way.
