The World Travel Market recently opened and the WTTC announced plans to hold the Global Travel & Tourism Summit in Beijing for 2010. The summit is set to be the 10-year anniversary and the China National Tourism Administration and the People’s Government of the Municipality of Beijing will host the summit. The dates of the 10th anniversary celebratory summit have also been released as the 25th-27th of May, 2010.
The tourism sector in China accounts for almost 10 per cent of the country’s GDP and almost eight per cent of the employment in the country. It has also been predicted that China could fast become the fastest growing economy the world over in the next 10 years and all of these factors contributed to Beijing being named as the host city of the summit. China’s tourism industry is also known for its diversity and it has long been used as a business destination but only recently has it become more popular with leisure travellers.
The current hard economic times have barely affected the tourism industry in China and Beijing has continued to flourish as a popular city for many holidaymakers to visit. The majority of visitors to China will travel to Beijing as the country’s capital to make use of its wide choice of hotels, restaurants and attractions that vary in price to ensure that they can attract a dynamic array of travellers. Anyone travelling to China for a holiday can also make use of the current deals that are on offer by many world-class airlines and hotels.
