Well there are many answers to this question, and no one answer is the right one. However, there are a number of answers that have weighed heavy towards the incredible sales of these PC tablets. For example, owners of the Apple iPad typically do not just buy one.

According to a new report by Yougov, a fifth of all Apple iPad users have bought at least two tablet devices. No, this is not because one breaks, but it is so that they can have a “hers and his” tablet, meaning that people are not sharing their tablets, everyone wants their own.

This is good news for Apple and other tablet PC makers. Selling one tablet per home is nice, but selling two per house is even better. There are some homes that are even buying more than two tablet PCs. One mom said that she had to by iPad’s for all of her kids for Christmas, because she knew that they would not be able to share one.

However, the report also shows that people have also purchased a certain type of iPad by mistake and then later went back and bought the one that they really wanted later. This led to them owning two iPads. For example, one person said that they purchased a WiFi only iPad by mistake. Later they went back out and bought a 3G version later. This all leads to better sales for Apple.
