Sunday night, two X Factor contestants caused disruption at their hotel after getting drunk. Rylan Clark (23) and Lucy Spraggan (20) allegedly disturbed guests and attacked staff at London’s luxury Corinthia Hotel. This was the last straw for hotel management, and after a meeting with X Factor bosses, the pair were promptly evicted.
The trouble started when Rylan and Lucy went to nightclub G-A-Y to party with Gareth Varey, the PA for Tulisa, and stayed until 4am. They had been heavily drinking and could barely stand when they called it a night. When they got back to the hotel, Rylan had to be carried up the stairs by Lucy. However, he soon turned back around, went down the stairs and dropped his trousers in the street while being very noisy. When he reentered the hotel, the receptionists told him they wanted him to leave. That’s when onlookers say he picked up a ‘wet floor’ sign and threw it at the staff, then ran back out of the hotel holding onto Lucy.
This wasn’t the end of the drama, though. Rylan and Lucy ran to Trafalgar Square and attempted to get on a bus. After the PA’s for X Factor were awakened by furious hotel staff, the pair were pursued around the West End. One witness says that the two were in an alley urinating before the PA’s could catch up with them.
Rylan and Lucy were told that they were being kicked out of the hotel. The staff were able to talk them into going back in the hotel. However, Rylan fought with one of the women, shouting and swearing at her. Their exit was even more embarrassing when hotel management told them they couldn’t use the main entrance to leave the hotel. Instead, they had to use the loading bay area at the rear of the hotel. The pair was seen walking by rubbish bins and laundry as they waited for their cab.
A source with X Factor said that the antics in the early hours of Monday morning were the final straw. Rylan and Lucy have been kicked out of the Corinthia due to their bad behaviour. They will be staying at the Hilton instead, which is close to Wembley, where the show is being filmed. Another insider said that the pair have been moved out of the hotel for at least the remainder of the week after producers cracked down on them for their behaviour.
Later, Rylan apologised for their antics on Twitter. He said they would be taking a small holiday from the hotel for a couple days. He gave their most sincere apologies for their “#beerfear behaviour”, which is a reference to one of Lucy’s songs about regrets after drinking on a night out. He said they were being “naughty” before going out to another party on Monday night.
Meanwhile, Rylan has admitted that he doesn’t expect to win the X Factor. He survived the first week of live shows and the bottom two of the second week. Now he says he’s fine with being dubbed the “joke act”. Although he’s serious about a music and dance career, he doesn’t think he will win. He works like every other contestants.
