Cruise liner makes charity contribution

The largest cruise ship in the world is to be officially named the Oasis of the Seas on the 30th of November and it will make a huge contribution to the Make-A-Wish Foundation children’s charity. The ship, owned by Royal Caribbean Cruises, will hold a fund raising event and all of the donations made will be donated to the charity. The Oasis of the Seas is set to become the largest and most modern ship ever to grace the seas, and the charity fundraising event will mark its launch.

Make-A-Wish is a children’s charity that aims to help children suffering with serious and often fatal medical conditions to be able to do something that they have always dreamed of. The charity also holds regular trips away for sick children and they have been helping children aged three to 17 through horrible times since 1980.

Royal Caribbean Cruises hope that the charity event will bring people closer together and they have called for the nation to support the foundation and all of its causes by attending the fundraising effort. Money will be raised for the charity through the sale of 1,000 staterooms on the new ship and the price of the staterooms will be discounted. Oasis of the Seas will be sailing to Labadee; a private beach and the ship is just one of a fleet of 20 that is operated by Royal Caribbean Cruises. It will hold more passengers than any other ship, with room for a total of 5,400 people on board.
