Cunard offering deep discounts before Christmas

Cunard is offering transatlantic crossings on the Queen Mary 2 at under £700, as it slashes its prices by up to £300.

The prices are valid on one-way crossings during April, October and November of 2009, and are priced from £699 per person, including the cost of a flight back in the opposite direction.

In order to receive the discount, bookings must be made before 28 February, 2009.

Cunard is claiming that the value is “virtually unequalled” in real terms, for this classic mode of travel.

Following the success of the inaugural Mediterranean voyages on the Queen Victoria this year, new cruises from Southampton in 2009 will start from £869 for 12 nights in October. In April, a similar 12-night cruise in April starts from £999.

Voyages from Southampton on the QM2 to the Mediterranean now lead in at £1,199, per person.

Carol Marlow, the president and managing director of the line, said: “In the current challenging economic climate customers not only want a quality experience but they also deserve value for money. The Cunard sale gives them just that – with the best prices we have ever offered leading up to the key December and January booking months.”

Marlow went on to say: “With the worldwide coverage of the departure of the QE2, interest in Cunard is at an all time high- not just from our regular loyal guests, but from all those whose interest in Cunard has been raised by the huge amount of publicity the brand has received in recent months.”
