In a passenger poll just published, Inverness Airport has been rated the best in Scotland.
It came in ninth overall in UK airport rankings, with a customer satisfaction level of 66 per cent, placing it considerably ahead of Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Prestwick.
Prestwick was rated as Scotland’s worst airport by those polled, with a satisfaction score of just 46 per cent. It came in well ahead of Heathrow’s Terminal One, however, which achieved a satisfaction score of 31 per cent in the Which Holiday? voting – the lowest score of all UK airports.
Readers of Wanderlust magazine also chose Inverness as Scotland’s best airport earlier this year. In that poll, it was also ranked as the second-best airport in the UK.
Graeme Bell, manager of Inverness Airport, said: “At Inverness we focus on putting the customer first, and the organisations involved in the airport operation work as a team to achieve this. We are delighted with the results of the Which? survey and the positive feedback from customers.”
He added: “It is good to know that the effort put into maintaining customer focus by all involved at Inverness is recognised by airport users.”
New Zealand firm Infratil, the owner of Prestwick, said that it was “committed to improving the passenger experience.”
A Prestwick spokesman noted that the airport “has seen a massive improvement in the retail and food and beverage offerings. Work on the £1.7 million extended and refurbished departure lounge will be completed in time for the busy summer period.”
