Disney Cruises to Sail from Miami

Disney Wonder and Disney Fantasy (cropped from website)Disney Cruise Line has released its 2013 itinerary plans for the Disney Wonder and Disney Magic, and it has confirmed it will leave Los Angeles at the end of the year to offer sailings in Miami for the first time. It has also announced a return of sailings to Europe.

The Disney Wonder will be leaving Los Angeles in December to head for Miami, where it will arrive for a December 23 cruise. The vessel will sail for a seven-night Christmas Cruise and a six-night New Year’s Eve cruise. After that, the ship will sail a series of four- and five-night journeys from Miami to the Bahamas and Western Caribbean. The vessel will make calls at Castaway Cay, it’s private island, and to ports in Grand Cayman; Cozumel, Mexico; Key West; and Nassau, Bahamas.

Disney Cruise Line manager of public affairs Rebecca Peddie says that the cruise line will continue offering sailings to Hawaii and the Mexican Riviera from Los Angeles until the end of the year. Because the fleet has grown, it has given them the flexibility to test new itineraries every year. Although they have only scheduled one call to Los Angeles for 2013 so far, they will definitely consider returning to the city again in the future.

A statement was also issued by the Port of Los Angeles about the move. Disney Cruise Line is a valued customer, and the city is a solid market for the company. They hope to continue working with the cruise line any way they can in years to come.

In May, the Disney Wonder will make the journey to Vancouver for seven-night sailings to Tracy Arm, Ketchikan, Alaska and Skagway, Juneau. Disney started offering Alaskan cruises from Vancouver in 2011, but will offer sailings to the state from Seattle this year.

The Disney Magic will continue sailing from the Port of Galveston in Texas through May of next year, offering six- and eight-night sailings that will visit Costa Maya, Grand Cayman and Cozumel. Then the ship will return to Europe in June for a series of cruises from Barcelona. It will offer a mix of destinations and itineraries – four-night cruises in the Mediterranean up to 12-night sailings. The longer cruises will visit Venice, Italy; Dalmatian Coast in Croatia; the Greek Isles; and Ephesus, Turkey.

Additionally, Disney Cruise Line has announced its itineraries for the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy vessels for next year. Both ships will continue to offer a variety of Bahamian and Caribbean itineraries from Port Canaveral in Florida. The Disney Dream will offer three- to five-night sailings to the Bahamas and Castaway Cay. The Disney Fantasy will offer seven-night cruises to the Caribbean, alternating ports of call – which will include St Thomas and St Maarten in the east; and Cozumel, Grand Cayman and Costa Maya in the west.
