A 10.1-inch Advent Vega and the compact 7-inch Advent Amico are to be launched exclusively by The Dixons Retail group.
Expectation are that these stunning little tablets will hit the shelves of Currys and PC World (subsidiaries of Dixons Retail group) on November 1st 2010. The opening price will be £129.99 for the Advent Amico running Android 2.1 and £249.99 for an Advent Vega boasting Android 2.2 operations.
There are now more and more Google based tablet PCs joining the marketplace, with recent weeks seeing the announcement of Samsung’s GalaxyTab and even the high street fashion retailer Next is getting in on the craze.
The 10.1-inch Vega tablet PC comes fully equipped with an amazing 10-hours of battery life – allowing people on the move to continue working all day, 4GBs of internal storage, and will even sport a 1.3-megapixel camera. The shell of this tablet is also an impressive 14mm thick. Impressive because the tablet also has full Wi-Fi connectivity built in. The little brother, Advent Amico, features a compact but user-friendly 7-inch screen. It also crams in full Wi-Fi and is set to be one of the lower priced tablets available.
“We expect tablet PCs to cause a spin in the computing market. Forecasts have predicted tablets to be one of the most popular Christmas gifts for 2010. The Advent Amico is a nifty, no frills product that makes a great gift for first time or beginner users. The Advent Vega on the other hand, gives those who want more from their PCs a tablet to meet more demanding needs.” Stated Jeremy Fennell, the category director for Dixons Retail.
