Dollar and Thrifty open in Poland

The Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group, Inc. announced earlier that it will be opening locations of its most successful brands, Dollar Rent A Car and Thrifty Car Rental, this month in Poland.

Armada Fleet Management Service, located in Warsaw, has a master franchise agreement with Dollar Thrifty to open dual-branded locations in the airport terminals at Lech Walesa Airport in Gdansk and also the Katowice International Airport. Three additional locations will be opened by the end of 2008, including a rental operation at the Warsaw Frederic Chopin International Airport, and also suburban rental locations in Gdansk and Warsaw.

Dollar and Thrifty will feature a mix of vehicles available to customers in Poland, with an emphasis on the Toyota brand. The franchisee anticipates that 80 per cent of the business will be corporate, and the remaining 20 per cent leisure.

Founded in 1995, Armada Fleet Management Service is Poland’s fifth-largest vehicle leasing company. Its fleet comprises around 3500 long-term and 400 short-term lease vehicles. Armada’s principal shareholder is also the owner of Poland’s largest Toyota dealership.

“We are proud to have such a strong company as Armada Fleet Management Service representing the Dollar and Thrifty brands in Poland,” said the vice president of DTG Global Franchise Operations and Development, Jeff Cerefice. “Poland represents one of the fastest-growing nations in the European Union, and this is a great opportunity for Dollar and Thrifty to establish a strong foothold in a thriving marketplace.”
