Driving abroad cause for complaints
Posted on: May 15th, 2008 by Andrew RobertsAccording to research conducted by easyCar.com, the topic which couples most frequently fight about is not the television or household chores. Instead, most arguments between couples in Britain occur behind the wheel of a car.
Research conducted by the car hire company found that more than a third of couples (37 per cent) have arguments while they are driving on international vacations. The only subject that couples fight more often about (41 per cent), according to the study, is finances.
Eminent psychologist David Moxon said that people should take some time to recognize their driving habits and adapt them to foreign conditions. He says that driving habits practiced at home are often more pronounced while driving on foreign roads, and can cause partners more stress in an unfamiliar situation.
The study found that the most irritating problem while couples took to the road abroad was poor map reading skills (48 per cent). In the study, 28 per cent of those who responded said that driving too fast was a major problem, while 21 per said said it was not understanding foreign road signs that was the most irritating aspect of driving abroad.
