East Midlands Airport expanding flight offerings

One of the UK’s busiest airports is enjoying yet more expansion as it plans to increase the number of flights that it offers and attract up to 40 per cent more travellers annually. New flight paths to Corsica, Malta, Venice, Sardinia, Barcelona, Dubrovnik, Cork and Newquay will be added and during the winter months there are plans to add services to Palma and Prague.

In total, East Midlands Airport will add another 3,000 flights to its offerings in 2010 and these services will run to 24 destinations in Europe. The airport is excited at the new plans and believes that it further shows its dedication to serve people who live in the area.

Easyjet only last week announced plans to cut back on their services from the increasingly busy air hub and withdraw its base there and cited their reasons for the move on extra costs that were due to increase in November. Easyjet have also announced plans to move their base to somewhere in Europe as the Air Passenger Duty in the UK is set to be higher than anywhere else in Europe and they cannot keep up with the rising costs.
