The travel industry is suffering in the economic downturn and in response to fewer people travelling abroad this year, EasyJet have announced two new flight routes to encourage more persons to travel. The new paths will run from Luton and Gatwick Airport to Israel and Morocco and the low-cost carrier is branching out to compete with traditional airlines.
The service to Tel Aviv will be launched in November and will take passengers six times a week from Luton Airport and in the same month Gatwick Airport will handle a service to and from Agadir twice a week. EasyJet announced that they will be adding another 23 routes this year concentrating on flights to and from the Middle East and the Mediterranean. Currently the airline flies to 28 destinations and operates at 111 airports.
“Israel seemed the next logical step as part of the expansion and it’ll introduce a whole new market. It makes Israel more accessible to a whole new range of travellers,” commented EasyJet spokeswoman Samantha Day. EasyJet will be the first budget airline to handle flights from London to Israel and the cheaper alternative is hoping to be a success story for the bright orange company. One way tickets to Tel Aviv will cost £72 and one way fares to Agadir only £35.
