Easyjet and Ryanair rescues FlyGlobeSpan passengers
Posted on: December 21st, 2009 by Peter HeadleyIn their own unique way these two budget rivals have come to the rescue of passengers of the now bankrupt airline, FlyGlobeSpan. Easyjet have been the first to step in and offer special rescue packages to those that have been stranded abroad by the collapse of the airline.
To help repatriate Brits back home for Christmas Easyjet will charge a set fee for customers of FlyGlobe that are stuck abroad. Passengers who wish to use this rescue package can do so from the following countries for just ?60, which includes all taxes; mainland Spain, France, the Balearics, Switzerland and Portugal.
If the passengers are stuck in Egypt, the Canaries, Cyprus and Madeira the fee including taxes will be just ?80. All flights must be taken before the 24th December and will be available to any UK airport that Easyjet flies to. To get these deals passengers are asked to contact Easyjet customer services for the country that are currently in.
The Irish low-cost carrier has come with a plan to help these passengers in the long term. They have announced that they will take over some of the operations that were operated by the now defunct airline. New routes from Glasgow’s Prestwick Airport and Bournemouth Airport will deliver a total of 2.5 million people to the two airports and help keep more than 2,000 people employed.
Some of the routes that will be focused on include place like Faro, Lanzarote, Malaga, Palma and Alicante. This should be breathe a sigh to some who have a holiday home abroad and were now facing a long journey to an airport that would serve their destination.
