Easyjet announce 2010 departures from Doncaster Airport

The UK’s largest airline, Easyjet, has announced this week that they are to start weekly operation from the newest airport in England. From April next year they will be flying to five destinations per week helping the airport grow even more.

The airport, which is officially called Robin Hood Airport Doncaster Sheffield, made its first commercial flight in April 2005 and has continued to expand with airlines and destinations each year. Easyjet will have up to 21 routes per week that will fly to Prague, Faro, Amsterdam, Barcelona and Palma with prices starting at just £24.99 for a one way flight, including all taxes.

Easyjet are expecting to carry around 300,000 passengers per year to some of the best places in Europe and it will make them the biggest budget airline to operate from the South Yorkshire base. A spokesman for Easyjet said that this latest move to fly from Doncaster only shows how well they are doing and proves their commitment to the UK market.

The major announcement at the airport this week went off in style as representatives from the owners, Peel Airports, and staff from the Welcome to Yorkshire Tourist Board were joined by Easyjet and one of their new Airbus A319 jets that was flown in especially for the occasion.

The tourist board are also welcoming the airline within open arms and are now working out a plan to promote the area to residents of the destinations that Easyjet will fly to. The flights will commence from the 19th-20th April.
