easyJet announces new Gatwick to Salzburg service
Posted on: August 13th, 2008 by Taylor SmithEasyJet has just announced the upcoming launch of a new service that will connect Gatwick with Salzburg, Austria. The flights to Austria will begin on 13 December, in time for skiers to make their way to the Alps before the Christmas holidays.
Winter sports enthusiasts have been looking for a direct route from London to Austrian ski country, and the new easyJet service takes skiers to the heart of it all. The service will be offered three times weekly, with fares starting from £32.99 each way, inclusive of taxes and fees.
This new route increases the number of easyJet flights operating at Gatwick to 50 for the coming winter season. The airline is projecting that at least 16,000 passengers will take advantage of the new flights when they are launched in December. One of the major reasons for the optimism regarding significant demand for the service is the timing of the launch with the beginning of the ski season on the continent.
The general commercial manager of easyJet UK, David Osborne, commented: “Salzburg is another exciting destination to add to easyJet’s Gatwick network. We expect the route to be popular with passengers seeking both a city break away and a great ski destination for those looking to hit the slopes this winter. easyJet has more flights to the snow from Gatwick this winter than any other airline and Salzburg joins other popular ski destinations such as Geneva, Innsbruck, Lyon and Sofia.”
