Low-cost airline Easyjet have announced their first medium haul flights starting in November. The flights will be ferrying passengers from Liverpool’s John Lennon Airport to destinations in the Canary Islands.
The budget airline will be flying to Fuerteventura and Lanzarote adding another two destinations to the 25 Easyjet currently serve from Liverpool. Easyjet currently have flights going to the Canary Islands but only from London and Madrid.
“This route comes as a direct commitment of ours to continue to enhance our destinations at Liverpool to meet customer demand. I have every faith these two routes will be extremely popular with our loyal North West customer base. I look forward to continuing to build on our strong relationship with both Fuerteventura and Lanzarote to boost tourism to these islands,” said Carly Brear, UK commercial manager for Easyjet.
Easyjet have started these routes after rival airline Ryanair pulled out of Fuerteventura altogether. They accused local tourism group on the island AIE of defaulting on an agreement. The pullout was a major blow for Fuerteventura who had 23 weekly services on nine separate routes.
Fuerteventura will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays, while Lanzarote flights travel on Tuesday, Thursday and Sundays. Easyjet have also announced a new route for London Luton Airport starting soon, to Sharm el Sheikh.
