A new travel guide has recently been released and El Salvador is a surprising new addition in the top 10 list of places to visit. More traditional holiday destinations have been left out of the travel guide created by Lonely Planet. One of the reasons that El Salvador made it into the list was its vibrant culture and there are a few other surprises that have made their way onto the list as well. Live music bars, museums and galleries are among the other activities one can enjoy during a visit to El Salvador.
The number one place to visit according to the travel experts is New Zealand due to its amazing scenery and wide choice of outdoor pursuits on offer like bungee jumping and hiking. El Salvador has been overlooked as a travel destination for many years as the country has suffered much unrest and a civil war that only ended in 1992. Lonely Planet editor, Tom Hall, spoke of how exciting the country is to visit and spoke of the volcanic landscapes that make it such an interesting place.
Other countries that featured in the top 10 were Greece, Germany, Nepal, Portugal Morocco, Suriname, USA and Malaysia. Although the UK did not make the top 10 list of countries to visit, the Lake District did make it into the list of the 10 best regions in the world. The Irish city of Cork is also rated in the top cities to visit list all compiled by the Lonely Planet after much consideration.
