Electric car rental to take-off by 2015
Posted on: December 23rd, 2009 by Martin FellowesThe Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, announced recently at the summit for climate change that every Londoner will live with one miles of an electric car charger by the end of 2015. The announcement in Copenhagen is a great step forward for the capital and Mr Johnson, who has been trying hard to make London more environmentally friendly. The electric points will help to encourage more of us to buy the cleaner vehicles and more rental companies in the area will be looking at an electric fleet.
It is said that the average Londoner will drive less than 30 miles for each journey they make in a car. This information is why it makes sense for London to become the capital of electric travel in Europe. With hook up points all over the capital more and more people will be turning to the green form of transport. Mr Johnson has revealed plan for 25,000 points across London with 22,500 placed at work places. The remainder will be available at public locations and feature faster charging times for those that are just taking a quick shopping trip.
To make life easier for the electric car owner there is a new website that has been launched in London which enables motorists to register on just the one site for easy payment when charging their car. Currently they have to register with each different borough they want to charge in and have separate payments for each site. This website will condense it into one easy to manage payment and location finder that will kept up-to-date as the charge points grow.
