Enterprise enhances car hire experience with better mobile site and QR codes

Enterprise Holdings & Car Rental Brand LogosConsumers hiring a car will now have 24/7 access to a virtual travel guide thanks to a new mobile-optimized website from Enterprise Holdings. Unique QR codes are being added to almost one million vehicles in the group’s combined fleet by the end of the year, giving customers on-the-go access to ONRAMP Concierge (www.onramp.ehi.com), which will provide them with everything from vehicle information to local attractions in their area.

This is a great addition to the Enterprise Holdings offering, as it will be available with Enterprise Rent-A-Car, National Car Rental and Alamo Rent A Car vehicles. This move is building on the innovation and success of the group’s first QR code pilot programme in the industry. The trial was launched last year, and now the company is adding the codes to its entire fleet of rental cars across the US and Canada. It has the biggest fleet on the continent.

Customers are able to use their smartphones to scan the codes, which they will find in the vehicles’ windows and on key tags. This will launch the ONRAMP Concierge website, where they can get information about the make and model of the car they have hired. It will also connect them to geo-targeted websites like GasBuddy and Yelp, as well as allow them to take advantage of offers from the Enterprise, National and Alamo brands.

Enterprise Holdings is the most comprehensive service provider in the car hire industry and has a worldwide network over of 7,700 neighbourhood and airport locations. Of these, 6,000 branches are located within 15 miles of 90% of the US population. This is more than double the number of locations its nearest rival has.

The size and scope of the network provides significant opportunities for Enterprise Holding’s auto manufacturing partners to introduce new vehicle technologies and vehicles themselves to the driving public. Customers of the Enterprise, National and Alamo brands have access to almost 150 makes and models of vehicles. Combined, the brands process about one million car hire transactions each week – which is like saying they offer almost one million test drives a week.

Enterprise Holdings executive vice president of North American operations Matt Darrah says that the ONRAMP Concierge website expands the company’s leading customer service beyond the hire transaction and branch location. Their rentals, which usually range between two and 14 days, are usually considered the perfect way to test drive a vehicle. ONRAMP adds value with real-time, easy access to information about rental vehicles. It also offers access to the latest hire deals from each of their three brands and provides popular location-based services to help users find local activities and restaurants.

Enterprise Holdings senior vice president of fleet Kurt Kohler says that every car hire experience will provide access to the convenience of ONRAMP Concierge and the opportunity for their manufacturing partners to show off their services and products. This is the perfect platform for customers to become familiarised with the vehicles they are hiring, allowing them to connect with their dealer and manufacturer partners.
