It is not uncommon for big rental car companies to buy out smaller rivals. These buyouts often happen because bigger car hire companies want to expand their businesses or make a big impact in an area where the smaller company is based. Both happen to be true for Enterprise Holdings, which has just purchased Triangle Rent A Car, a car hire company in Raleigh, North Carlina. This company has been growing all over the south since it first opened in 1979.
Despite this deal being officially announced, the terms of the deal were not disclosed to the public. Enterprise Holdings has stated that its goal for this acquisition is to make sure that all full-time and part-time employees at Triangle Rent A Car get to keep their jobs. This means that Enterprise Holdings has to fight to keep the jobs of all 300 employees that work at the 29 Triangle Rent A Car branches in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Virginia.
The current president of Triangle Rent A Car, Frank Colonna, said that this company first started with only seven vehicles. This was fine because the headquarters for the company was in the back of an abandoned gas station. Jump ahead to 2004, and it is amazing to think that the fleet for the company has grown to 4,500. Of course, the headquarters has been moved to a more fitting location. Triangle Rent A Car rents not only cars but also trucks and vans.
The Triangle Rent A Car fleet, websites and branches will now be re-branded as Enterprise Rent-A-Car. While it is sad to see another car rental company be swallowed up by one of the bigger ones, this will actually give the staff at Triangle Rent A Car a more secure future. Enterprise Holdings has been around for a long time, and it does not seem like it’s going to go under anytime soon.
