Enterprise Rent-A-Car has announced that it will use four of its Atlanta locations to cater to clients looking for environmentally-friendly hybrid and flex-fuel vehicles. These new so-called Green Branches will ensure that at least 60 percent of the available fleet is comprised of hybrid vehicles and the four Atlanta outlets will be the first such Enterprise locations in the United States. The car hire firm believes that the opening of these locations is the best evidence of Enterprise’s commitment to limiting the negative affects that the car rental industry has on the environment.
According to most recent reports, Enterprise will strive to ensure that at these four Atlanta locations hybrid cars comprise 30 percent of the total fleet, while another 30 percent include some of the most fuel efficient passenger vehicles currently available in the US. The branches will be located at all corners of the Georgian capital, including in downtown Atlanta, in the Emory area and in Dunwoody. In total, approximately fifty hybrids will be offered to visitors to this city.
Dan Miller, who serves as Enterprise’s general manager in the Atlanta region, noted that the firm has been around for half a century and that during this time, it always tried to listen to customers and remained in tune to major trends in society. Prospective renters in the Atlanta area have apparently expressed “great interest” in greener car hire solutions. Miller added that one of Enterprise’s goals is to support research into alternative fuels, through the incorporation of new technologies.
Enterprise currently has owns over 4,000 hybrid cars, in addition to the 73,000 FlexFuel passengers vehicles. On top of all this, an additional 440,000 automobiles offered by the firm are advertised as especially fuel-efficient. Enterprise has also spent more than $25 million on supporting research initiatives into renewable fuels, by setting up a separate institute dedicated to this type of work.
