Etihad wins three prestigious World Travel Awards

Etihad Airways recently won top honours in three categories of the travel industry’s World Travel Awards (WTA) categories, including recognition as the leading airline in the Middle East, the leader in first class travel and the leading airline website.

The WTA ceremony was held at Atlantis the Palm in Dubai, at which awards were presented that were the result of the voting by nearly 170,000 travel professionals from around the globe, including over 110,000 travel agents.

These honours have brought Etihad’s total awards won to date to 12, providing the carrier even more reasons for celebrating as it approaches its fifth anniversary in November of this year.

Etihad Airways set new passenger traffic records for the first nine months of this year, with an increase of 35 per cent over the same period in 2007. Load factors for the period averaged 75 per cent, which was an increase of seven per cent over the first nine months of 2007.

Voters also recognized Etihad’s new premium-class lounges and its concierge service at the Abu Dhabi Airport, and the free limousine service that is available to first- and business-class customers across the airline’s network.
