Europcar is encouraging travellers to make rental car bookings early if they plan to travel for Christmas, which is only weeks away. The company is advising potential customers that they will be able to secure a better rate if they make their reservations sooner, rather than later. This will also give them a better chance of getting the type of vehicle they need or want for their journey.
Christmas is traditionally one of the busiest times for car rental companies, and there can be very high demand for vehicles. Therefore, Europcar is encouraging travellers to start thinking about what type of vehicle they will be booking early. The car hire operator offers a variety of vehicles to choose from – whether the customers just need a bigger vehicle so they can drive the whole family around for the holidays, want more comfort or need a van to help move large numbers of items around. It has a network of more than 200 UK locations and the biggest selection of vehicles, which are all younger than six months old.
Europcar UK Group managing director Ken McCall says that they are seeing a high demand for vehicles during the holiday season, even though the clocks have just been turned back. The cold front being experienced across the UK is also a reminder that families might have to hire a car to ensure they have one they can rely on for their Christmas journeys. By booking early, they can ensure they reserve the vehicle they need, as well as secure the best possible rate – which can depend on availability.
McCall added that Christmas can be a busy time of year for families. Having a vehicle that’s not big enough, can’t make it through wintery weather or may break down could spell disaster with all the general logistics of organising people and shopping. A bigger, reliable and more comfortable vehicle can really help through all that. By reserving a hire with Europcar, consumers can secure the right vehicle at the right price, ensuring they have a happy Christmas.
Europcar is the leading car hire operator in Europe and offers its services in 140 countries through its own operations, partnerships and franchises. Consumers will have no problem finding the vehicle they need in their average fleet of 190,000 vehicles. That is…until they are all booked up.
Europcar isn’t the only company encouraging consumers to book early. As with the busy summer holiday season, many companies urge potential customers to start planning their trips ahead of time to ensure they have all their ducks in a row. Sure, customers can save money on late bookings, but if they wait, there’s always the chance that the late booking won’t be there or is more expensive. Booking early can mean savings as well. The trick is to find the perfect balance between too early, late and too late.
Even flyers have already started booking airline seats for the holidays this year. It’s been reported that ticket sales have significantly increased for Christmas and New Year’s compared to the same period last year, despite prices being higher. The Wall Street Journal’s Middle Seat column shows that fares purchased from travel agencies in the US were up over 50% through 21 October. Part of this could be due to the perception that waiting to buy tickets would only mean paying more as prices rise.
